The HEKS/EPER AltuM Project supports people 55 years and over with a migrant background in matters pertaining to ageing. HEKS/EPER AltuM also raises awareness in institutions and municipalities regarding concerns and needs in Switzerland's Canton of Aargau and motivates them to make their services accessible to migrants.
Staying healthy and socially active
HEKS/EPER AltuM helps ensure that migrants in the Canton of Aargau can enjoy independence, good health and quality of life in their senior years. HEKS/EPER AltuM organizes activities such as café meetings, orientation sessions on social, economic, legal and health aspects of seniority, health promotion and exercise activities, information and counselling in small groups, and individual conversations. Older migrants can be better reached and referred on to public institutions through cooperation with migrants' organizations and associations, as well as through intercultural mediators and interpreters.
