Karolina Frischkopf takes up post as HEKS Director

On 1 March Karolina Frischkopf took up her new post as Director of HEKS/EPER. She is the first woman to head the organisation in its almost 80-year history.

With its strategy 2023-27, HEKS/EPER has set the framework for a process of consolidation, focusing and transformation in order to continue to meet the ever more rapidly changing political, economic and social conditions and to be able to offer its stakeholders the best possible services. The new operational management will work with HEKS/EPER in Switzerland and worldwide for a future with the vision of a fairer world in which the dignity of all people is respected, peace prevails and the natural foundations of life are preserved.

Karolina Frischkopf brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from her previous professional activities to lead HEKS in this challenging process. After studying international relations, economics and political science, the 46-year-old gained more than 18 years of leadership experience in organisational management and worked for ten years as a diplomat in Mexico, Geneva, Beijing and Berne. Most recently, she was deputy director of the Swiss Red Cross, whose national office she will lead on an interim basis from December 2022.
