Our projects

HEKS/EPER is making a difference in the «Church parish partnerships» in Zimbabwe

Living conditions in Zimbabwe are precarious. Unemployment is high and food is scarce, particularly in rural areas. HEKS and its partner organizations are assisting people in improving their livelihoods. The aim is to enhance food security and lower unemployment by promoting the cultivation of food crops and ornamental plants, providing ongoing vocational training and improving access to water. HEKS/EPER began conflict transformation work in 2015 so as to counter the prevailing violence and injustice. The outcomes of these latest measures will become perceptible only in the medium-to-long term.

HEKS/EPER in Zimbabwe

Facts

In 2017 HEKS/EPER provided emergency aid for about 7500 people after flooding.

Over 10000 people obtained access to clean water.

Open, vibrant and socially engaged churches effectively attract members and fulfil an important role in society. HEKS/EPER therefore supports the youth and community work of church parishes in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, and contributes financially towards the renovation of buildings that are important to church life. HEKS/EPER also promotes solidarity among the Reformed Churches. Partnerships between church parishes in Switzerland and abroad pave the way for reciprocal visits and exchanges and promote support for projects run by partner parishes. Dialogue within the reformed community and with other confessions as well as between church and society enables the Reformed Churches to play an intermediary and social role.
