On the threshold of 2025, the world faces immense challenges. Humanitarian crises are on the rise, whether due to escalating conflicts, climate change or social inequality. As millions of people suffer the consequences of violence and displacement, we too are faced with the question: how can we maintain a spark of hope in the midst of these crises - for a more just and peaceful world?
For me, the answer lies in the words of Richard von Weizsäcker (1920-2015): "Only a world of solidarity can be a just and peaceful world. Understanding solidarity in this way means not only providing quick relief, but also putting the dignity and self-determination of those affected at the centre. A world of solidarity requires the courage to work together, patience and a willingness to share power and prosperity. In this way, we share responsibility for lasting peace and justice.
