In Ukraine: providing protection, alleviating hardship
HEKS/EPER has established supply lines from Odessa to alleviate the plight of people in the country’s southern and eastern cities that are being hit especially hard by the war. HEKS/EPER is also supporting its long-standing partners in Transcarpathia in their work – that of caring for the elderly and for people with disabilities who are neither able nor willing to leave the country, and of receiving internally displaced people seeking shelter there.

In neighbouring countries: receiving and providing for refugees
HEKS/EPER is also on the ground in the neighbouring countries of Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic – and soon also in Moldova – where it is assisting its partner organizations in welcoming refugees, providing them with the most essential items, with psychological help, and is organizing accommodation for those wishing to stay in the region.

In Switzerland: organizing lodgings, counselling and guidance
In Switzerland, HEKS/EPER assists Ukrainian refugees arriving at the two Federal Asylum Centres (FACs) in Altstätten (SG) and Basel in submitting their applications for protection status and is responsible for placing them with volunteer host families. The first projects have already been launched to provide language courses and support in navigating everyday life.
